The secretary of Iran’s Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution said various social and cultural theories can be derived from the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
Hojat-ol-Islam Abdol Hossein Khosropanah made the remark in an address to the closing ceremony of a cultural event dubbed “Souvenir of Arbaeen” Campaign, which included a competition on written works such memoirs about the annual procession.
He hoped that university scholars and researchers would begin to theorize about Arbaeen and that different aspects of the Arbaeen movement would be cited as theories in academic textbooks.
The cleric added that Arbaeen is an event from which many lessons can be learned.
He said unity among people and the ideology of resistance against arrogance and decadence can be seen on the path of Arbaeen.
Hojat-ol-Islam Khosropanah further noted that the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution has formulated a strategic document to facilitate the Arbaeen pilgrimage.

Arbaeen is a religious event observed by Shia Muslims on the fortieth day after the Day of Ashura, commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the third Shia imam.
It is one of the largest annual pilgrimages in the world, with millions of Shia Muslims, as well as many Sunnis and followers of other religions walking to Karbala from various cities in Iraq and neighboring countries.
