Pezeshkian chairs Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution’s meeting on university entrance exam

The Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution held a meeting on Tuesday (September 10), chaired by President Masoud Pezeshkian, to decide new regulations on regional quotas for admitting candidates to Iranian universities as part of efforts to promote equality in the education sector.

Members of the council decided that a working group is formed to re-formulate regulations on regional quotas for university admissions on a provincial basis.
The council tasked the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology with forming the working group made up of representatives from the Health Ministry, the Islamic Azad University and the National Organization of Educational Testing.
The Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution is headed by President Pezeshkian. Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje’i are also members of the council.
As part of his election promises, President Pezeshkian has vowed to promote equality in the education sector including in quotas allocated to different provinces in the nationwide exam, known as Konkour, which involves tight competition for candidates to enter government-funded universities.
