This morning, a growth and innovation center was opened in Kharazmi University in the presence of Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, to lay the foundation for turning innovative ideas into knowledge-based businesses.
Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, mentioned the development of the innovation and technology ecosystem by establishing this growth center, stating: Kharazmi University is one of the important and effective centers regarding the creation of innovative ideas. By opening this center, the university has provided the foundation for the development of new businesses. The agreements made for the establishment of Alborz Innovation Factory has increased the capacity of the innovation ecosystem of the province, which is considered the pole of biotechnologies.
Sattari mentioned that the large pharmaceutical and biotechnological poles based in Alborz Province are a good capacity for the interaction of universities and generating wealth from new ideas. In this regard, he continued: Kharazmi University can take effective steps toward the development of technologies and knowledge-based economy based on the province’s advantages.
Sattari regarded the formation of entrepreneurship culture among the academics, the revenues generated by patent selling in the university and communication with industry as the necessities of boosting the knowledge-based economy, asserting: if there is enough will to develop the environment of innovation and entrepreneurial culture in universities, we will definitely see the creation of added value from the ideas of talented and creative university youth.
The president of the national elites foundation considered the universities’ movement toward innovation and entrepreneurship a necessity for valuing the innovative ideas, expressing: for a young person to be able to find his place in the country's economy after years of education and to be effective and efficient in solving society's problems, he needs a serious change in his attitude towards young people and his creative ideas.
The vice president for science and technology affairs pointed out the extremely high capacities of technological universities for private sector investment, claiming: the product is the result of the role of the private sector, and in order to produce an effective product, the private sector must invest in research. Research that is fully supported by the government will not be effective.
A Foundation for Turning Innovative Ideas into Knowledge-based Businesses
In the past, the building of the university’s growth and innovation center had an administrative use, which was equipped and exploited with the support of the Vice-Presidency.
Currently, 20 companies and 25 technology cores are located in this growth and innovation center, and the unfinished part of its capacity will be completed by announcing the call and absorption of technology cores.
Moreover, the innovation center of Kharazmi University in Alborz has four times the capacity of Tehran, which will be exploited with the support of the Vice-Presidency.
The technology activists based at the center are working on their innovative ideas in the fields of biotechnology, petrochemicals, information technology and communications.
